Product Description & Research Overview
SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is a synthetic eight-amino acid peptide developed as an advanced topical cosmetic ingredient designed to reduce the appearance of dynamic facial expression lines. Often referred to as a topical alternative to Botox®, SNAP-8 works by helping reduce neurotransmitter release involved in facial muscle contractions, resulting in smoother-looking skin without injections or downtime.
As an enhanced version of Argireline® (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8), SNAP-8 contains two additional amino acids that improve its interaction with the SNARE protein complex, making it one of the most extensively researched cosmetic peptides for expression wrinkle reduction.
Researchers continue to investigate SNAP-8 as a non-invasive approach to improving the appearance of forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, and other dynamic wrinkles while remaining gentle enough for long-term use, including around the delicate eye area. Cosmetic studies have demonstrated measurable wrinkle reduction with consistent topical application, with concentrations between 3–5% representing the most commonly researched range and 10% serving as the upper concentration evaluated in published clinical studies.
Research suggests SNAP-8 improves the appearance of expression lines through several complementary mechanisms:
Reconstitution & Formulation (10 mg Vial)
Step 1
Add 30 units (0.30 mL) of bacteriostatic water to the 10 mg SNAP-8 vial.
This creates a stock solution containing:
33.3 mg/mL SNAP-8
Step 2
Add the entire reconstituted solution to your hyaluronic acid serum base.
Example (10 mL HA Base)
Final concentration: approximately 0.097% SNAP-8
Note: Published cosmetic studies commonly investigate formulations between 3–10% SNAP-8. A single 10 mg vial is intended for small-batch formulation and does not produce a true 3–5% cosmetic concentration. Multiple vials of Snap-8 10mg would be required to achieve this
Formulation & Application Guidelines
Cosmetic Concentrations
Topical SNAP-8 formulations are commonly prepared between 0.5% and 10%, with 3–5% representing the most widely studied range for daily cosmetic use.
Lower concentrations (0.5–2%) may produce more gradual improvements over 8–12 weeks, while higher concentrations (5–10%) have demonstrated faster visible improvements in cosmetic studies.

Skin may begin appearing smoother with early improvements in fine expression lines.
More noticeable softening of dynamic wrinkles with continued twice-daily application.
Lower-strength formulations may continue to improve wrinkle appearance with consistent long-term use.
